If you haven’t been on the internet for long, then you’ve been missing product launch after product launch after product launch. Some of these products have been well received, rave reviews (Product Launch Formula, Traffic Secrets, Launch Tree, MicroContinuity) and some of them have been “oooops!” – marketing blunders that did not resonate well in our community. And this one may go down as the biggest marketing blunder in internet history by (drumroll please – Mike Filsaime’s Affiliate Jump)..
I’m glad I didn’t hop aboard the Affiliate Jump train when everyone started promoting that. I was actually invited to promote that in 2007 before Mike Filsaime put his marketing spin on this program.
And the community backlash is spilling into the forums and into the blogosphere…It’s gotten so bad that Warrior Forum has started deleting and banning people who talk bad about about anyone. And for good reason – there are certain lines that you cannot cross and being held liable is a very serious issue for website owners. Did you see the story of the Super Model who sued Google and WON – Bloggers Beware Well I just found a “cached” article that was deleted .. I think Josh sums up Affiliate Jump nicely:
Hi everybody.
I’m a long-time lurker and decided to post here. Hopefully this helps you make a sound decision.
I’ve recently been looking into Affiliate Jump. As a Super Affiliate, I’m always just looking to see what kind of offers certain networks have.
I’m so sick and tired of seeing people invade a space without understanding the industry. This review will be designed to illustrate the flaws behind Affiliate Jump and WHY you should NOT join Affiliate Jump…
Affiliate Jump is hands-down to be terribly and bluntly honest, the biggest joke of a CPA Network to ever hit the online business industry.
And I’m going to explain to you why Affiliate Jump isn’t even a CPA Network in the truest sense…
Everything about Affiliate Jump goes against industry norms (and good norms).
Let’s tackle some of the worst maneuvers behind this new network. If Mike wants to run a real network, he should address these immediately:
1. Upfront Costs: You do NOT charge people to join a network to promote offers. It doesn’t make ANY sense.
2. 100% Acceptance: One of the “benefits” behind joining Affiliate Jump was the guaranteed acceptance. There is a GOOD reason why Networks don’t allow anyone to join a program. Good CPA Networks require AFFILIATE MANAGERS to manage their affiliate base and to ensure they are ONLY dealing with affiliates that know how to work the business.
It goes back to the old simple idea – would you rather have 100 performing affiliates or a list of 10,000 newbie affiliates?
One will make multi millions – one will make jack squat. It’s pretty simple.
3. Your Offers: Any smart affiliate knows they can use a site like AffSpy, OfferVault or look across other networks to find the highest payouts.
I’m making a partial assumption here, but given your stature, I don’t think you have a direct connection to the advertisers behind ALL the CPA offers you’re enlisting.
Why does this matter folks?
If a CPA Network isn’t going direct with an advertiser, it means there is a broker involved who collects commissions in-between, meaning you are NOT getting the highest payout possible.
It’s pretty easy to tell when you look at the payouts of your offers.
4. Your “Ease Of Building Pages”: The review landing pages your system builds are extremely questionable – and no doubt will run into Google Slapping issues and Quality Score Indexing issues. It also raises the question of who is managing your opt-in submissions.
The review pages you use are awfully sketch. Just a couple of simple Google searches and researching advertisers will show you the right way of doing it that actually works.
5. The Support: There is no way you can maintain good support for this network – you allowed everyone to join this network and have no prior knowledge of where their marketing skillsets are at. This is why Networks have an interview process before approving new applicants. They want PERFORMERS.
6. No Affiliate Managers: From the gist of things, you do not have multiple affiliate managers that can be available via AIM/MSN/Skype/GTalk that are helping the affiliate base with publishing your CPA offers. This is imperative to the success of a network’s CPA offers.
7. Retention: There is absolutely no way the retention will stick when you are charging people to promote offers.
8. Your NET Term Payment Plan: You only ensure a NET 30 Term plan – where affiliates in a majority of networks who earn $1000/week are getting weekly bank wiring payments. You have not addressed the need for real performers.
I could go on and on… there is a lot wrong.
Affiliate Jump just got everything wrong. I mean, EVERYTHING.
If you plan to get into a real internet business industry, you need to really research it first.
Your infrastructure is not there.
You are already surrounded by a couple leading affiliates and network owners in the industry – you should have consulted with them first.
And by the looks of things, there is a very negative vibe on this forum about this opportunity. I don’t blame fellow Warriors.
Just a little tip – given how you already have a good affiliate base with PayDotCom, you should have just leveraged that instead of doing this launch.
Just the opinion of a super affiliate here.
Hopefully this presents some good analysis to folks of the Warrior Forum about why this is a complete waste of a time opportunity.
If you want to know real networks to join, try Clickbooth, AzoogleAds, Convert2Media… plenty more out there.
This is without a doubt, the worst maneuver I have ever seen in the entire industry of online marketing.
And I can tell you that behind the scenes everyone is laughing about this. No affiliate in their right mind will endorse or promote the offers behind this program.
The only devil’s advocate move you played well with was understanding there is a buzz in this marketplace – but you did a terrible disservice – you should be ashamed of what you put out to the industry. I would like to see you take more pride in your work.
Many people used to joke around about how any ‘ma and ‘pa and their dog can setup their own DirectTrack-styled CPA Network, but this really digs the grave more.
Thanks.
– Josh
The good news is that Affiliate Jump is now SOLD OUT. So that means everyone does not get in.. and the backlash worked this time to shut it down. What are your thoughts?
