Setting Up Your Blog – Step by Step

blog-affiliateOkay still need help setting up your blog?

Right now, I’m putting together my top traffic strategies and blogging brings in 15% of my total opt-ins.  Twitter brings in another 13% and that will grow depending on the number of followers you have.  YouTube, Facebook, and MySpace bring another 15% combined.  Another 20% come from the Search Engines, and I’m discovering some really cool tricks to getting higher page ranks!  (as you can see from my new blog layout!)

But many people ask me – where would you start?

I would start by Picking a Niche, Building a Blog, and Building a Relationship with Your List!

Dating, Health, Fitness, Losing Weight, Pets, Dogs, Golf are the biggest converting sites right now because these people are veracious buyers. They buy one thing – they buy everything in that niche.  And if you collect their information – you can sell them anything in the future.  And the way to sell to these groups:  Offer some free training videos or free information.. along with your affiliate link!

Three months ago, I gave you step by step videos on building your blog.  Let’s recap step by step how to build a blog so you can at least get that part off to a great start:

Step 1: Choosing Domain Names and Hosting

Step 2:  Installing WordPress

Step 3:  Installing a WordPress Theme

Step 4:  Installing Plugins

My problem has always been picking a WordPress Theme.  To me, the theme is like decorating – I’ve never been good at decorating.  If I had my way – I’d put a pool table in the living room with a big 110 inch screen next to a fridge stocked full of Corona’s.  And then, I’d put a big plant in the corner for that “upscale” look!

One secret to decorating your blog – just pay $39 for a professional theme.  That’s what I did to Jeff Gardner’s Blog at http://www.gardnermarketing.com.

Last year, I switched to Studio Press Theme for all my blogs (except this one).  I started SuperAffiliate officially four months ago, and I’m testing my traffic sources, my pagerank, my keywords for search engines versus blog layout versus # of opt-ins. Just by making small tweaks to your design combined with the right SEO plugin – I’ve gotten really great results.

Jeff Gardner’s Theme is actually an old Studio Press Theme.  I bought this one for $59 years ago.   Since then, Studio Press has  cleaner, crisper looking designs.  It’s your solution for those like me who suffer from BLOCD!
