No this was not an obvious programming error or hack. This was more than likely done on purposes. Some sales people actually steal your commissions. Sometimes what happens is they set up a squeeze page that you direct your traffic to. Once the potential customer clicks on your affiliate link, they are sent to that squeeze page. All of the sudden, without your knowledge, a pop up banner comes out asking the customer to enter their email and name to receive a free sample copy. Of course they want to test drive the product before purchasing, so they go for it. A minute after that they receive an email and a link back to the sales page. This time, it’s minus your affiliate code. The programmer claims all the cash from that sale even though it originated from your efforts and links. Please be careful everyone and cloak your affiliate links.

I think they are probably good at everything but the marketing.. :0)

HINT: The money is in the marketing.. so without the marketing, you will lose a lot of money.

1. I wouldn’t sign the contract. Don’t ever give any money upfront to these people.
2. If they have a 0.0000001% success rate, how do you think you will fare?

I was selling a fractional interest in a plane for $55,000 and got this (probably Nigerian dude) “Judy Willson” character with a dubious request for my Paypal address before even calling me or scheduling a time to meet and see the plane! Dummies. I wish I knew how to report these con artists, but Craigslist doesn’t block this very well.
