Have you heard of Huffington Post? Huffington Post is an online newspaper started by Arianna Huffington back in 2005 (who I just don’t get).  The reason I don’t get her is because in the 90′s, she started her first site called Resignation calling for the impeachment of President Clinton.  Her niche:  Conservatives.   Now, In the 00′s, she targets a different niche:  Liberals.  99% of her readers are loyalists to President Clinton.  In less than a year, it took off, and Arianna had instant VC money.  I don’t get her, but I do get the fact that AOL bought her site 5 years later for an outstanding 315 million dollars.  $315 Mill eee on.   What’s a fly sitting on a turtle’s back say?  Wheeeee!

Looking to Start the New Perez Hilton Gossip Website?

So maybe firing up the political storm is not your cup of tea.  With shows like The View, The Chew, The Chat, The Voice, Gossip Websites will always be popular.  Have you heard of Perez Hilton?  Another person I don’t get, but the numbers don’t lie.  His blogs bring in a cool six figures per month (and there are no affiliate links!)  The niche:   The Gossip Crowd.  He said, She said stuff.  Controversy and starting fights are the best way to get readers riled up to keep coming back for more.  PLUS, they are more likely to tweet and Facebook like creating a viral traffic explosion, and Perez Hilton is right there to cash in on the simple two column blog.

Want to Start Your Own Wine TV (Like Gary Vaynerchuck)
